Tzamarot Ayalon (Hebrew: צמרות איילון) is a neighborhood in Tel Aviv, on the east-central part of the city. It is ranked as the Richest neighborhood in Tel Aviv, and the wealthiest neighborhood in Israel. The second richest is Tzahala, an upmarket residential neighborhood located in the northeastern part of the city.
The Central Bureau of Statistics ranked neighborhoods throughout the country in accordance with socioeconomic indicators. Two neighborhoods in Tel Aviv topped the list, but they present quite a different living environment.
Richest Neighborhood in Tel Aviv – Tzamarot Ayalon
The neighborhood is divided into two areas by Yaakov Dori Street that crosses it. South of the street are Tel Aviv Savidor Central Railway Station, Tel Aviv 2000 bus terminal and Volovelsky Park. North of the street is a residential area known as Park Tzameret (Hebrew: פארק צמרת), which include twelve luxurious high-rise apartment buildings surrounded by green space.
The 13.3 hectares area has been modeled after similar projects in London and Paris. According to the urban plan, only 18% of the total neighborhood’s area will contain buildings, with two massive squares at the southern and northern sides of the neighborhood and a 60-metre-wide (200 ft) avenue linking them.
In total, the project offers around 2,000 luxury apartments, along with 6,000 square metres (65,000 sq ft) of commercial and public buildings.
Most famous projects in Tzamarot Ayalon are:
Yoo Towers – a complex of two skyscrapers completed in 2007. The two towers, named Yoo Tel Aviv 1 and Yoo Tel Aviv 2, became some of Tel Aviv’s most recognizable structures, and ranked among Israel’s tallest buildings, with the first one being 142 metres (466 ft) hige and the second 128 metres (420 ft) high. together, they offer more than 300 residential units.
The project was designed by Philippe Starck and includes a spa, lounge, health club and private cinema.
Manhattan Tower – Manhattan Tower includes 180 luxury apartments with a large private spa complex.
W Tower – with 47 floors, it was the tallest all-residential tower in Israel upon its completion.
2nd Richest Neighborhood in Tel Aviv – Tzahala
Tzahala (Hebrew: צהלה) is low rise neighborhood in the north of Tel Aviv and north of the Yarkon River, south of Highway 5. It was established in 1951, and meant to house IDF officers and veterans of the 1948 War (and that is why it is named after the Israel Defense Forces – Tzahal).
The neighborhood has about 500 houses, most of them single-family houses and a minority of two-family houses. The structure of its streets is circular- all the streets lead back to IDF Street, the main street of the neighborhood, both ends of which are intended to be the gates of the neighborhood.
Worth Mentioning – Neve Tzedek
Neve Tzedek (Hebrew: נווה צדק) is a neighborhood located in southwestern Tel Aviv. It was the first Jewish neighborhood to be built outside the old city of the ancient port of Jaffa. Since the early 1980s, Neve Tzedek has become one of Tel Aviv’s latest fashionable and expensive districts, with a village-like atmosphere.
One project worth mentioning in this area is the “White City” trendy new tower. This project includes a 30-story residential tower with 160 luxury apartments, and includes a spa, a gym, an outdoor swimming pool with a tanning deck, a lobby, a lounge, a conference room and more. In addition to the residential tower, White City will also include a 5-story pavilion compound with special duplex and loft apartments.
