Accessible via a short drive from the parking lot, this observation point offers a refreshing escape into nature. A well-marked trail leads to the observation deck, where visitors can take in panoramic views of the landscape. Shaded picnic tables are available for those looking to enjoy the scenery and a gentle breeze.
Directions: The parking lot is conveniently located between Shoresh and Beit Meir. To reach it, travelers can take Route 1 and exit at the Shoresh interchange. Follow Road 3955 for approximately 3.5 km until reaching the designated parking area, indicated as “Burma Road” (see it on Google Maps).
2. Loki Bird Observation Deck – Neve Ilan Forest
The Loki Bird Observation Deck, nestled near the Neve Ilan, offers a peaceful and captivating perspective of the Jerusalem mountains. Easily accessible by car, this hidden gem provides an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil nature retreat.
Directions: Travelers can locate “Mitzpe Loki” in Waze and follow the route through the Neve Ilan settlement. It is worth noting that the internal road leading to the observation deck closes daily at 5:00 PM.
3. Arthur Rubinstein Viewpoint – “The Piano” in Aminadav
The Arthur Rubinstein Observation Point, an architectural tribute in the shape of piano keys, pays homage to the renowned pianist. While it is a favored spot for witnessing the sunset, it tends to be frequented by visitors. For a more secluded experience, visitors can explore the surrounding area, including the Yad Kennedy building, to find a quieter spot with equally breathtaking views of the Jerusalem mountains.

4. KKL Pensioner Campsite – Jerusalem Forest
Situated at the entrance to the Jerusalem Forest, the KKL Pensioner Campsite offers an excellent rest stop during forest excursions. Visitors can relish views of the Jerusalem mountains from the benches provided or continue on to discover a wooden shed for added relaxation.
Directions: Accessible by driving to the Yaffe Nof neighborhood in Jerusalem, visitors can park their vehicles at the end of Pirchey Chen Street near the Jerusalem Forest’s entrance. From there, follow the paved road and look for the “KKL Pensioner Campsite” sign on the left. (See it in Google Maps)
5. Nahal Yitla Observation Point – Mount Haruach
The Nahal Yitla Observation Point, nestled on Mount Haruach, provides one of the most enchanting vistas in the Mountain area. Besides offering benches for relaxation, this spot features picnic areas and children’s play facilities. Although a fire occurred in the area in June 2021, the observatory and its adjacent facilities remain unscathed and open to visitors. For those looking to extend their visit, the Nof Yitla Trail, a short and dog-friendly route, is easily accessible.
Directions: To reach the Nahal Yitla Observation Point, travelers can drive on Road 1 and exit at the Hamed interchange towards Abu Gush. Continue on the main road of the village for approximately 2 km until reaching the Levinsite, where visitors can park their vehicles and access the observation deck.
6. Forest of the Martyrs
The Forest of the Martyrs offers a secluded and spectacular observation point overlooking Nahal Kislon, Mount Carmela, and the settlements of Kislon and Beit Meir. This hidden treasure, nestled within the Forest of the Martyrs, features spacious, shaded wooden benches, making it an ideal spot for picnicking and relaxation. Although initially kept as a well-kept secret, it is now shared as a green refuge for those seeking tranquility.
Directions: Travelers can navigate to the ‘Jewish Forest of Yemen’ and park their vehicles there. For those traveling from Tel Aviv, taking Route 1 and exiting at the Shaar HaGay interchange towards Route 38 to Beit Shemesh is recommended. Subsequently, travelers can continue to Ramat Raziel and As Salon on Road 395 before turning right to the Yemen Jewish Forest. A short walk from the parking lot leads to the observation deck, marked by green trail markers.
